    Te Arai Beach Auckland North

The very first time I went to Te Arai beach was because my son was going to a camp next to a lake that is very close to the beach. I had been to Mangawhai many times over yet had no idea that this beautiful piece of coast called Te Arai even existed. Naturally the surfie’s had found Te Arai long ago, as I soon found out. NZ has the most amazing coastline and plenty of it. As you head out of Auckland’s calm East Coast Bays and then get an inkling of east coast surf as you pass via Orewa beach. Travelling on past Wenderholm and Mahurangi West Regional…

    NZ Plants in My Garden

Why NZ Plants in my garden? I have decided to do something a little unusual for this post and share my garden images. Well, this post idea is actually inspired by my flower photo images that are all taken in my home garden North of Auckland. With my Nikon Coolpix Micro setting the flowers can make top close up subjects. You may soon guess   I love to garden and after moving to a house that had next to no gardens 5 years ago I have spent years creating a small oasis right in the middle of town.  Living in this location means that the climate is subtropical and apart…

Scotts Landing a Picture Image NZ

Just where is Scotts Landing NZ? Within an hours drive heading North of Auckland and out on the Mahurangi East Coast is where you will discover a small scenic bay, Scotts Landing, tucked in close to the mouth of the Mahurangi River. The beach itself is small in comparison to many but on a hot day when the tide is in this little bay is perfect for a family picnic. Great swimming for young kids and the water is often cool and clear. As the tide recedes you can walk out and around the little Island attached at the end of the bay, Cassell Island. There is lots of grass…

Black and White Coastal Image NZ

Having fun with the camera in a black and white image setting. Just decided to play with the black and white setting on my camera one day and I was pleasantly surprised by how well many of the images looked. These are all coastal images, taken around various parks and beaches in the Auckland north region. Let’s take a look at some. See what you think. The bark and trunks of the Pohutukawa Tree look really good in black and white Above. Why did I go with Black and White? This post was really just about having a little fun taking black and white images for a change. Check out…
