Photo Magic in Your Garden
When you are new to photography. If you are wondering where to start with your image taking, you need to look no further than your garden. If you don’t have a garden you could try the local park or anywhere where there flowers, trees or insects. Anybody who has looked around on this blog can see that my photography is either scenic or plants and flowers. I became hooked on garden images after being given my Nikon Coolpix and usually use just the closeup setting. A Garden of Opportunity. Flowers and leaves make amazing images. You just need to capture these images while your subject is in its prime. This…

The 2 Sides Freedom Camping NZ
How I see it there are 2 sides to freedom camping in NZ This is becoming a big topic around the social table of NZ and it is not too difficult to see the good the bad and the ugly with the pros and the negatives to the practice of freedom camping. No booking, no fees, no schedule to keep, the best views, company of similar minded company and total freedom. There are positives I can see, but what about the negatives. Lack of bathroom…

Scenic River Image NZ
I am lucky enough to live in a river town. It is so good to be able to take scenic river images so close to home and during all seasons. The best times to take a river walk with your camera When I head down to the river with my camera it is usually because it is a beautiful day, the tide is in, it is autumn and the leaves on the trees in the park have changed to beautiful shades of orange and reds, or it is a misty and or frosty morning. During these days the photography is usually good. Early morning and evenings are always promising for…

Coastal Image Scenic Drive North Auckland
For an Auckland coastal image choose the coastal route when travelling north of Auckland. I do drive this road on occasion and I always prefer the coastal road. It is quite hilly but on a good day, the scenery will take your breath away. Another good reason to take the coastal road during summer is so you can stop along the way to cool off in the tide. The Scenic Route To Capture a Coastal Image I was heading down the coast towards Auckland the other day and I had the camera in the car, so I stopped to grab some images. Following the Coastal Route. A Good Night Photo can be tricky.
Do you manage to get a good night photo?. It can become the good the bad and the ugly when you take your camera out at night. Trying to get a good night photo is not easy, Some may choose just to enjoy the evening without their camera and that I can totally understand. My success at night photography is 50-50. That is probably because I have not learnt the skill needed for total success. In fact, I have been known to fry a camera trying to capture night images of the moon before. Trying to Take Photos of the Moon Last night I almost fried two cameras. The experts…
